Getting started guide

Get set up in four steps

Connect your store, bring in your products, set up where you ship from, and place your first purchase order. Your 14-day trial runs on the Essential plan, with up to 3 connected warehouses.

Before you start

  • Admin or staff access to your Shopify store, so you can install apps.
  • At least one Shopify product with inventory tracking turned on, so you can see the sync work.
  • You're signed in to OmniOrders at app.omniorders.com.

Step 1

Connect your store

Start with the store where most of your orders come from. Shopify is shown here; other channels follow the same idea.

  1. Open OmniOrders on the Shopify App Store and click Install. If the app is already on your store, the button says Open.
  2. Shopify lists the permissions OmniOrders needs. Click Install again. Shopify then takes you to a page called Integrate with Shopify.
  3. In the Redirect URI box, type https://app.omniorders.com, then click LOGIN. The box looks filled in, but the gray address is only an example: it stays empty until you type it, and you can't continue without it.
  4. In OmniOrders, go to Automation › Integrations and click your Shopify store. It opens on the Monitoring tab; switch to Settings.
  5. Turn on Import Orders, Import Products, Sync Inventory and Sync Update Tracking. Import Orders starts switched off, so check it.
  6. Scroll down and click Save Changes. The button only appears after you change something, and nothing is kept until you click it, so don't leave the page first. After saving, the page returns to the Monitoring tab.

Which orders come in: by default, orders that are open, unfulfilled and paid. An unpaid test order won't appear. You can change these filters, including Financial Status, in the Orders section of the same Settings tab.

To check it's working: the Monitoring tab has Order Logs, Jobs and Inventory Logs.

To stop syncing: click Pause on the Settings tab.

Selling somewhere else? Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, eBay and EDI partners each have a guide in the integrations docs.

Step 2

Bring in your products

Pick whichever route matches where your catalog lives today.

  1. From Shopify: on the Settings tab of your Shopify integration, under Products, click Execute Get Products. Your products appear under Products › Inventory.
  2. From a spreadsheet: go to Inventory, open the ⋮ menu and choose Upload Products by CSV.
  3. One at a time: go to Inventory, click + New Product, fill in the name, SKU, prices and facility, then save.

Use the same SKU everywhere you sell. OmniOrders matches products across channels by SKU, which keeps stock in sync and prevents duplicates.

Then fill in the gaps. Products imported from Shopify arrive without a supplier, a cost or dimensions. If you buy from suppliers, add the supplier and cost, so purchase orders show the right products and prices.

Step 3

Set up where you ship from

OmniOrders calls each warehouse, store or 3PL a facility. Your account starts with one local facility named OMNIO inventory Location.

  1. Go to Supply Chain › Facilities.
  2. To add another, click Create Facility. Choose Local Facility for a warehouse or store you run yourself, or pick your 3PL's system or Amazon MCF, then click Install. For a Local Facility, type a Name and Description and click Save. It shows up as Active right away.
  3. Link the facility to your Shopify stock: on the Shopify integration's Settings tab, under Sync Inventory, choose the Shopify location in Location Id and your facility in iLoc From, tick Sync Inventory, and click Save Changes.

Give each facility a contact and an address. A new facility only asks for a name and a description, but purchase orders and transfers sent to it need an email, a first and last name, a street, a city and a country. You can add them during your first purchase order (step 4).

Step 4

Place a purchase order

Restock from a supplier and OmniOrders tracks what's ordered against what arrives. You can add suppliers under Suppliers first, or start without one.

  1. Go to Supply Chain › Purchase Orders, open Actions and choose Create purchase order.
  2. Pick the supplier. If you haven't added any suppliers yet, the only choice is None, and every product is available in the next steps.
  3. Pick the facility receiving the stock, under Select Warehouse Location.
  4. Click Add product, click + next to each SKU you want, then Close. Type the quantity into the facility's column until Unassigned shows 0.
  5. On Delivery Sites, check the receiving facility has a contact and an address. If it doesn't, click the pencil next to Ship To and fill in the email, first and last name, street, city and country.
  6. Review the order, then save it as a draft, or save and confirm it. A confirmed purchase order can't be edited. Save as draft is available on every step, so you can stop and come back.

Moving stock between your own facilities instead? Go to Supply Chain › Transfers and click + Create Transfer. Pick the facility the stock leaves from, then where it goes, then the SKUs and quantities. Check the delivery address (as for a purchase order), look over the preview, click Continue and choose Save as draft or Create Transfer. You need at least two facilities, and stock at the one it leaves from.
